Father and son, Randy and Tyler Kleager enjoy volunteering their time with the Scottsbluff County C.E.R.T - or Community Emergency Response Team .
"It's about doing things for our community and making our community better and making our team better."
Tyler's dad Randy, played a pivotal role in search efforts for Kerra Wilson of Mitchell last September.
And now Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy is awarding the father son duo with Nebraska's "Be Prepared Awards."
"The Scottsbluff County C.E.R.T Team is one of our more active, and really one of our more mature and experienced teams that we have here in the state of Nebraska."
Sheehy says the Scottsbluff County C.E.R.T Team is often used as an example for other C.E.R.T teams across the state.
And while Kleager says the circumstances for the award are less than ideal, Wilson was found murdered several days later.
The search proved to be a learning experience.
"Every one of these is a new experience and you always do learn something more and it's an opportunity to improve the team."
