As Hurricane Sandy works its way up the east coast, Red Cross teams from Nebraska are ready to help in any way possible.
Disaster relief volunteers from the state prepare to deploy to the east coast within the next 24 hours.
Shelly Penner, the Director for the Nebraska Mid-plains area says Hurricane Sandy may be the worst storm that could affect tens of millions of people on the east coast.
She says countless volunteers are ready to help out, "With several from North Platte, Hastings, Grand Island, Kearney... all across the state to Chadron that are on standby and ready to go."
Penner says people can help the victims of Hurricane Sandy by donating money or blood.
