Gering schools go under lock down for a few hours

Two schools in Gering are back to normal following a lock down after a report of a young man with a gun.

Police say Gering High School and Lincoln Elementary were placed on lock down for about 45 minutes this afternoon.

A female student reported seeing a young man walking near some tennis courts at the high school.

Officials say the man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a weapon, possibly a rifle, sticking out the top of the sweatshirt.

Police searched the area but didn't find anyone.
