Students question candidates running for school board

Posted: Updated:

Four school board candidates vying for three positions were asked tough questions by the ones who will be affected the most... the students.

The Scottsbluff Speech Team hosted a forum last night to get a better feel for who the candidates are. Only Speech Team members were allowed to ask questions in the town hall style forum.

Senior Jessica Vallez was thrilled at the opportunity for students to make a difference during this election. "It's an exciting thing to do because ... it's usually the adults that get to run everything," explains Vallez. "And so we're really excited to get the opportunity to do something for our school."

Incumbents Paul Snyder and John Selzer are vying for another term, while challengers Sidney Miller and Terry Gilliand are campaigning for what would by their *first* term as a board member.
