The race for Nebraska's U.S. Senate seat has turned into a surprising debate among Republicans - Moderate Party Elder Statesmen against Modern Conservatives.

Democratic Candidate Bob Kerrey has gotten the endorsements of prominent former Republican Senators Warren Rudman of New Hampshire, Alan Simpson of Wyoming and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.

Conservative Republican candidate Deb Fischer picked up her own testimonials this week, including one from Arizona U.S. Senator John McCain.
