People from around the Panhandle met in Torrington today in support of one of their own.

Miss Wyoming, Lexie Madden, came back for a homecoming, months before she is set to compete in the Miss America pageant.    The event featured a silent auction for the University of Wyoming student who admits balancing school and pageant life can be tough.

"It has been a little bit tricky sometimes but I'm very thankful, my advisor at the University of Wyoming is a rock star, so she was like we're going to make this happen, we're going to be flexible, you're teachers are going to get this schedule set and we're going to do it."

Her mission is to teach kids healthy eating habits and the importance of daily exercise.   She is thankful for the platform that she has and knows the importance of being a good role model.

"I want to be someone who's relatable.   And I think that's such an important factor in the Miss America Pageant.  They want to see someone who is down to earth and humble and shows little girls that this is an attainable goal."

Madden calls these next few months crunch time.   She will compete in the 2013 Miss America Pageant January 2nd.
