Western Sugar Cooperative's sugar beet harvest is going longer than expected.
There are still two growers left to go, although the company originally estimated it would wrap- up the harvest October 31st.
The harvest began September 11th and is now 99% complete.
Western Sugar set a record with 29 tons and 18% sugar content.
Senior Agriculturist Terry Butcher says it's been a long but exciting harvest season.
"Some of the other states saw some big yields in the past couple of years and I guess this was Nebraska's turn."
The cooperative hopes to set another high goal next harvest.
