Adrian Smith thankful for constituent support

Posted: Updated:

Polls aren't even closed yet , but Nebraska's incumbent Congressman from the 3rd District is already celebrating.

Representative Adrian Smith is in the middle of an all-day election-day party.

The 'Panhandle Republican Women' and the 'Scotts Bluff County Republican Party' hosted a luncheon for Gering's native son in Scottsbluff during the lunch hour.

Smith is seeking his fourth straight term in Congress, and received 82 percent of the Republican votes in the May primaries.

He says support from constituents is overwhelming. "I'm just grateful to have the support," says Smith. "Coming back to Nebraska so often, that's what helps keep my feet on the ground and hearing from folks on (what I say is the front line of) the economy, for example."

Smith will be in Kearney for election night celebrations early this evening, and then he'll make his final stop in Lincoln at the Nebraska GOP celebration.
