Authorities say a passenger brought a car to a safe stop after the driver suffered a fatal attack near Chadron in northwest Nebraska.
Dawes County Attorney Vance Haug says the incident occurred east of Chadron on Wednesday afternoon.
Seventy-seven-year-old Joyce Dryer was driving on U.S. Highway 20 when she suffered what Haug called a "sudden cardiac-related'' event.
Dryer lost control of her car, and it ran into a roadside ditch. Haug says Dryer's passenger, Donna "Peggy'' Tausan, reached over, grabbed the steering wheel, returned the car to the roadway and brought it to a stop.
