In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, tens-of-thousands of flood-damaged vehicles could hit the nation's used-vehicle market.
Staff at Team Auto Center in Scottsbluff says there are several sure-fire ways to make sure you don't end up buying a potential junker.
They say always try to buy from a reputable dealer. Many used cars are sold as "certified pre-owned" and come with guarantees on the product.
And, ask for a comprehensive vehicle report before buying anything. "Cars that we think might have suspected damage, we'll run what's known as auto check...or car fax," explains General Manager Kent Holub. "That way we'll check to see if there's any history on the fact that the car has been damaged."
Team Auto Center says doing a little research beforehand can save you from a big headache later on.
