Newly re-elected Congressman Adrian Smith wants veterans to share stories about their time in the service.
The Gering native comes from a family with a military background. Smith says that his grandfather was a Navy C.B. during World War II, and instilled in him an appreciation for public service.
Stories of serving in the military motivated Smith to continue to carry the 'torch of freedom' forward. "But I would ask each and every veteran to share his or her story," says Smith. "It's your stories that can motivate younger generations to serve not only in the military, but within their community as well."
Back in 2007, Smith founded the Congressional Rural Veterans Caucus, and was a co-chair.
