An Omaha senator will revisit increasing lawmaker's salaries ... despite the measure being shot down by Nebraska voters.
Senator Scott Lautenbaugh says he wants to go back to the drawing board- but doesn't have any specific proposal.
Lawmakers haven't received a pay raise since 1988, and many senators argue the current pay keeps qualified Nebraskans from serving.
President of the Legislature Rick Sheehy notes senators do receive daily stipends for mileage and lodging. However he does support the pay increase.
"They do receive more than $12,000 a year," says Sheehy. "But moving it from $12,000 to $22,000 may help us find some additional good people that maybe couldn't run."
68 percent of last week's voters shot down the amendment to approve lawmakers salaries.
