Air travel increasing for holidays

Posted: Updated:

A lot of people are opting to take a local flight to get to their thanksgiving destination.

Bookings are up at Western Nebraska Regional Airport, which Airport Director Darwin Skelton says correlates with holiday travelers.

He says taking the jumper flight to Denver is a viable system to allow passengers to fly anywhere they need to go.

The planes can hold 19 passengers, and recent flights are pushing capacity.

"I don't check every flight. But the one's I've been seeing whether they're coming or going, we're getting some good loading numbers with 14, 15, 16 people on them."

Skelton says there are still seats available for flights leading up to Thanksgiving, and says flights for Christmas are already being booked.
