Johanns wants answers from Senate hearings on U.S. Embassy attacks in Libya

Posted: Updated:

U.S. Senator Mike Johanns is gearing up for upcoming Senate hearings about the September attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Libya.

The Senator from Nebraska has already sent letters to Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta asking for a detailed timeline of the attacks that claimed four American's lives.

Johanns says it is important to get to the bottom of what people knew... when they knew it... and what we can do to ensure this sort of tragedy is prevented in the future.

Johanns says U.S. Diplomats who work overseas are outstanding people, and have a right to expect safety. "It's imperative that our diplomats have security and support needed to safely serve our consulates overseas."

Outgoing U.S. Senator Ben Nelson has also called for increased security measures following the deadly attacks in Libya.
