The public is helping law enforcement agencies solve more crimes in Scotts Bluff County.
The Sheriff's Department launched the "text-a-tip" program in August, and allows people to text or email tips regarding public safety.
The sheriff's office receives the alerts and forward the tips to the appropriate agencies.
The program isn't intended to replace 9-1-1 emergency calls ... but has helped the people of scotts bluff county have a new way to fight crime.
"It has resulted in some search warrants, some felony arrests, drug offenses that we've solved, some investigations that we've launched," says Sheriff Mark Overman. "It's been very very successful."
