Sen. Nelson endorses three panhandle natives to military academies

Posted: Updated:

U.S. Senator Ben Nelson endorses three panhandle natives to U.S. service academies.

Senator Nelson has nominated Janelle Kesterson of Bridgeport and Brian Evertson, of Kimball to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Jaime Torres has served four years on active duty in the Air Force, since his graduation from Scottsbluff High in 2008... which explains why he is in uniform. Torres now has Nelson's endorsement to enter the Merchant Marines.

Senator Nelson says these are some of the finest students in Nebraska, all with impressive academic records.

It will be up to the individual military academies to determine if the students are accepted to the institution.
