Thanksgiving in the Valley prepares for dinner

Posted: Updated:

Preparations are underway for what many people call the largest Thanksgiving gathering in Scottsbluff.

Volunteers are hard at work, cooking 22 turkeys, countless boxes of stuffing and potatoes for the Guadalupe Center's Annual Thanksgiving in the Valley Dinner.

Organizers expect around 500 meals to be served tomorrow.

The dinner will run from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m and is free for anyone to attend.

Volunteer Randy Thruston says he's been cooking for the annual thanksgiving service for more than 25 years.

"The people that come and partake in the meal share with those who have prepared it. So it's a good time had by all, and we want that feeling of family to continue."

Thruston says planning for the annual dinner begins in late September and early October.
