Scottsbluff bank robber arrested

Police have arrested and charged a Scottsbluff man who allegedly robbed the Valley Bank on the corner of Broadway and South Beltline on Friday.

42-year-old Michael Scott is charged with charged with one count of Robbery, one count of Theft of more than $1500.00 and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine).

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, a man walked into the Scottsbluff bank and handed the teller a note, demanding money. He was able to flee on foot and was on the lamb for more than a day.

Police used surveillance footage from the day of the robbery, as well as footage from other  area banks. An ongoing investigation into numerous thefts from local banks assisted in the identification of a male subject observed on surveillance video entering the bank and demanding cash during the robbery 

Officers executed search warrants at 2307 W 42nd Street #20 (North Side Mobile Home Park), the home of Latricia Degeest, as well as 1413 E Overland #30 (Eastwood Apts.), the home of Michael Scott in the early morning hours of Friday, November 23rd.   

Items recovered in these searches included banking records, financial transaction devices and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency.  The financial records and devices recovered in these searches were from bank branches involved in the investigations

These investigations are ongoing as it appears that other crimes were committed.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department.
