People in Panhandle brave lines on Black Friday

Retailers love it.  

"It was awesome.   We definitely saw an increase in traffic, even with it being on the holiday.   We were lined up clear past Staples. So business is good."

Shoppers have mixed feelings.

"I didn't like it because it interrupted Thanksgiving in part of the family feel of the whole thing and then, It just kind of ruined things I guess."

While there are certainly Americans who feel like the idea of "Black Friday," especially on a Thursday is too much.

Thousands of others look forward to the shopping holiday each year.

That includes hundreds of people in the Panhandle, who flocked to Target and Wal–Mart last night.

Black Friday got its name because this is the day many companies like Target get out of the red and into the black.   But it begs the question, is it worth all the hassle?"

No, I think the black Friday, there was so much stuff in Wal–Mart yesterday, I didn't go out, I didn't want to get trampled."

And some, who want to skip the crowds, but still reap the benefits of Black Friday.

Find a way around the hustle and bustle.

"I sent my husband."
