Students get awarded for election help

Posted: Updated:

Panhandle students working the polls during elections are being rewarded for their efforts.

264 students took part in this year's Youth Election Service.

The program is designed to increase the interest of kids in the election system.

As a reward some of their names were selected by the Secretary of State's Office and the Nebraska Bankers Association to receive a $50 savings bond.

Students from more than 26 counties in the Panhandle participated, some working more than ten hours at polling places.

All of the students receive a certificate from the Secretary of State's Office honoring them for their service.
