The Gering Police Department has identified the man who died after a train struck him near the Country Club Road railroad crossings.
31-year-old Brendan Pratt died after a Union Pacific train struck him at approximately 6:45 p.m. Thursday night. A preliminary investigation shows that Pratt was on the tracks 100 yards east of the crossing.
The investigation began after a Union Pacific Railroad employee called the Scotts Bluff County Communications Center saying a pedestrian was hit.
The Gering Police and Fire Department, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Department, as well as Union Pacific investigators all responded to the scene.
Family members have been notified and an autopsy has been scheduled.
