A Gering family of three loses everything but the clothes on their backs, after a morning fire destroys their home.
Around 8:15 Saturday morning, the Gering Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on County Road R.
Investigators say it was caused by an overloaded electrical outlet.
Crews from Gering, Scottsbluff, and Rural Gering Fire Department spent about two hours extinguishing the fire.
Firefighter Jeff Vance says a main concern was the propane tank behind the home.
Several outlets are accepting donations for the family, including clothes for a 16-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. Sizes needed are: Girls size 1-3 Jr., Boys 30-32, and women size 1.
Donations can be dropped off in the Firefighter Ministry drop box at First Baptist Church 3009 Ave I or during the week at Schank Roofing on East Overland. The Union Bar in Gering is also accepting donations.
