A Western Nebraska man will spend a long time in jail for possessing child pornography.
30 year old Thomas Schildt of gering has been given a seven year prison sentence for having thousands of pictures of child porn on his home computer.
Schildt made a deal with Federal Prosecutors, pleading guilty to receiving and distributing child pornography.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dropped one of the counts against him.
Prosecutors say Schildt must serve ten years of supervised release after he leaves prison and will have to register as a sex offender.
Schildt was arrested on state charges last year, but they were dismissed for the federal case to continue.
