The Scottsbluff City Council has green-lit a new recycling pilot program.
During this weeks meeting, the council approved an ordinance to set a four dollar monthly fee for the new single stream recycling program.
Participating members will help the city get a gauge on how much material is collected.
City Manager Rick Kuckkahn wants to get the city positioned to provide a service that's increasing in demand.
Users can put plastics, cans, and other recyclable materials in the bins that will be provided. There will just be several exceptions on what's collected.
"Just as a refresher," said Kuckkahn, "The single stream includes everything but the flimsy plastic bags and glass. We will still provide facilities and take those things in, but not in your single stream cans."
The pilot program will run until the end of the city's fiscal year, and then the council will see if they expand the program.
