Foster grandparent program holds community garage sale

Posted: Updated:

One Panhandle organization found a way to raise money inside on this chilly December day.

The foster grandparent program has been around the area for nearly forty years and the goal is to lend a hand to area children who are struggling in school or other areas.

The grandparents step in and provide one–on–one guidance and help.   Today they held a garage sale with proceeds going directly towards the program.   Program Manager Cathy Schumacher knows the importance of this program to the community.

"Yeah it's a win–win situation.   The school's win.  The grandparents win because they get out of their home and they get out and have something to do and the kids really get the most benefit of all," says Schumacher.

The group is always accepting cash donations and are hopeful to hold more events like this in the future.
