Alliance School District moves forward with superintendent search

Posted: Updated:

A familiar face is chosen to lead the Alliance School District while school board members search for a new superintendent.

The school board, as well as outgoing Superintendent Dan Hoesing say the students are in good hands.

"We have five individuals in our district that are qualified to be superintendent," says school board Vice President Alan Cornish.

And of those five, school board members chose psychologist Vickie Grant.

"She's a good leader, she's calm, collect," explains Cornish. "I've been around her quite a bit, and everything seems to be smooth with her and everything else."

Dr. Grant will still serve as the district's school psychologist while the board continues their search for a permanent superintendent. While it's a lot to take on ... She says she's ready for the challenge.

"I like healthy platefuls of work. We have a great administrative team here. As I've gotten to know them, it will be like we're working this as a team."

Dr. Grant says being a veteran in the Alliance School District  is an advantage during this time of transition. "I have a good grasp of what alliance as an educational system is all about, and so we'll start looking at the other aspects that would go along with the superintendence."

Current Superintendent Dan Hoesing says the district is being left in good hands for both the short and long term.

"Over the next year, while I was a part of helping them put this plan together, it really wasn't about me. It was about them. It was about our kids and I do think that whoever they hire to step into these roles will just become another partner, another team member in there."

The school board wants four or five solid candidates for the superintendent position. They hope to have someone hired by February 11th.
