The pain at the pump is lessening across KOTA Territory.
This morning, the cost of a gallon of regular gas dipped below the three dollar mark for the first time this year.
The U-Save Gas station in Morrill made the change after the last fuel shipment cost eight cents less per gallon.
Owner Terry Lyle says that prices have been steadily decreasing in the past few months… and that's a trend she hopes continues.
"We're not doing anything different than we've done in the last 4 years," explains Lyle. "When the price goes down, our price always reflects that. And sometimes it works the other way and we're priced a little higher than the next guy. But we do the best job we can."
Drivers were eager to begin scooping up the savings immediately.
Rick Leib of Torrington says high gas prices this year have forced him to make some tough financial decisions. "Well it's been rough," says Leib. "I mean you got a choice between getting fuel or maybe going out to eat or shopping on groceries and stuff like that. Fuel prices are just nuts anymore."
The U-Save Gas station is the first local station to drop below the three dollar mark… but prices across the panhandle should follow that trend in the coming days.
