Concealed weapons permits allowed in all 50 states

Posted: Updated:

Federal Court is tossing out Illinois' ban on concealed weapons, making them the last state to offer concealed weapons permits.

Nebraska started allowing concealed weapons permits in 2007, but since last year the Nebraska State Patrol has seen the number of permit applications double.

State Patrol Lieutenant Jamey Balthazar says it's unclear why there's been an increase.

Wyoming is one of the few states that has unrestricted carrying access, which means residents can carry without a permit.

Balthazar says he thinks the rise in applications may just be from word of mouth.

"You know, it may be that the concealed weapons program is getting more popular as far as people know about it more."

The Lieutenant says he it's hard to say whether the increase could be from people's protection concerns.
