Food banks in Goshen County receive a generous donation thanks to efforts by a local organization.
The Platte Valley Young Professional Network hosted its second annual Christmas Giving event last night.
Members began putting out boxes for non perishable food donations last month.
More than 200 canned food items were collected last year. This year, the young professionals are increasing their efforts.
"We expanded our areas we are collecting," says co-chair Ashley Harpstreith. "We expanded the time we're collecting. And hopefully we'll be able to give a little back to the community this year."
The 'Caring and Sharing' organization served more than 500 in-need families last year.
Staff members say they're grateful for all the work the young professionals are doing.
Food donations are still being accepted at banks in Torrington, as well as the Goshen Enterprise Center on West 22nd Street.
