Ground breaks on Scottsbluff business

Posted: Updated:

Construction is underway on a main drag in Scottsbluff-but what business is going there remains a mystery.

A plot of land in front of Wal-Mart on Avenue I is being developed.

Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says the property is owned by First State Bank. The banks has taken out a permit for grading and excavating to correct a ditch problem.

Kuckkahn says he doesn't know who is actually going to build on that plot of land. Regardless, the city manager says he encourages more economic development in the area.

"The activity that has gone on in that area has been very positive and we obviously welcome any new business coming in to that site," explains Kuckkahn.

A Taco Johns opened on that same block earlier this year. A credit union is close to completion as well.
