U.P. and National Guard help with Christmas donations

Posted: Updated:

Members from the local National Guard help deliver food and gift donations for in-need families this Christmas.

An entire truck's worth of donations from Union Pacific Railroad and its employees pulled up to Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska this morning.

The donations are part of CAPWN's annual holiday food and gift program.

This week they will deliver the donations to families that came in during application time requesting assistance for the holiday season.

Community Bridges Director Jennifer Rogers says it is always heart warming to see community members step up and make sure that in-need families can have a nice Christmas.

"It just really shows the capacity that we have in the area for giving back," says Rogers. "Especially at this time of year, with some of the tragedies that are happening around the country; it really shows that we are a whole community here and that we're going to help each other out and make sure everyone has what the need- especially at the holiday time."

This is the 17th year that Union Pacific and its employees have donated to the annual holiday food and gift program.
