Sen. Barrasso talks about gun laws for Wyoming

Posted: Updated:

While national leaders are calling for stricter gun regulations in the wake of the Newtown shootings, debate in Wyoming is moving the opposite direction.

Wyoming lawmakers are already drafting legislation to end gun-free zones in government buildings.

Wyoming Senator John Barrasso says he believes each state- not the nation- should have its own gun laws.

Barrasso spoke yesterday on "Fox News Sunday," saying he still believes in American's right to bear arms.

"Let's step back for a second," said Barrasso. "I'm a doctor. I'm a father of three. And, I'm from Wyoming, a state where we believe strongly in our second amendment rights. We are the people of Wyoming, me, personally, are still absolutely committed to find real solutions that work. So, something like this tragedy never happens again.

Barrasso says there will be a very spirited discussion in Congress on gun control in January.
