CSC making strides after audit

State auditor Mike Foley says Chadron State College is making great progress on fixing accounting problems.

During the college's annual audit, it was discovered that the football program and other departments had secret financial accounts.

Three major secret accounts containing $22,000 prompted the firing of former coach Bill O'Boyle. Foley also says the blame does not rest solely on O'Boyle, because the other people knew about these accounts.

Foley says CSC took his recommendations to heart, including the hiring of a compliance officer and a business officer to oversee athletic finances.
