The Nebraska Highway Patrol is concerned about a spike in the number of deaths on state roads this year.
Highway deaths are up 14 percent compared to this time last year, 200 this year compared to 180 a year ago.
Officers say it's hard to pin down a reason deaths are up, but say the state is also seeing an increase in overall accidents.
The biggest bump this year came on county roads, where fatalities rose nearly 50 percent.
The State Patrol says many of the deaths involved people not wearing seatbelts.
