The City of Scottsbluff reminds people to shovel their sidewalks over these winter months.

City of Scottsbluff Code Administrator Gary Batt says many residents have not cleared snow from their sidewalks, creating a safety hazard.

Failure to clear the walkway could result in a fine.

Batt says you could be liable if somebody falls on your sidewalk.

Batt says you have about five hours after it stops snowing to remove the snow.

But the longer you wait, the harder it will probably be, because it'll continue to pile up and freeze on the sidewalk.
