An airport in KOTA Territory airport receives some much needed funding for 2013.

After a final tally of boarding numbers, the Western Nebraska Regional Airport exceeded its 10,000 passenger boarding goal in 2012.

The 10,000 mark means the airport is entitled to $1 million in federal funding.

The money can only be used for safety upgrades or to buy equipment ensuring the facility is safe for passengers and airlines.

The airport also plans on putting a bathroom in the security area for passengers.

Darwin Skeleton, the Airport Director says when he heard the good news he was thankful for the fliers.

"Well that's just great news, you know when we can make that over 10,000 boarding that's huge for us. The difference of $150,000 versus a million is great."

Skelton says they hope to have as successful as a year as 2012 was.
