All signs are pointing to former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel being appointed to the Secretary of Defense position. If this happens, it could be met with criticism.
The Senate's top Republican, Mitch McConnell says that the next Pentagon Chief must have a complete understanding of the US relations will ally Israel and the threat from Iran.
McConnell says that Hagel has certainly been outspoken on certain foreign policy matters. Many Democrat leaders have criticized Hagel's comments fifteen years ago while voting on a former Ambassador calling him "openly, aggressively gay."
Hagel is a Vietnam veteran and brings 12 years of Senate experience to the position.
An official decision from the President is expected to come early this week.
