Gering teen dead after train accident early Sunday morning

A Gering teen dies early Sunday morning after trying to cross in front of a moving train.

17 year old Mikal Orozco was driving south on 21st Avenue in Scottsbluff when the accident happened around 1:30 am.

Lieutenant Rick Spencer of the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Department says Orozco drove around the crossing arms block the road just before the accident happened.

An eastbound train then stuck the vehicle. She later died at Regional West Medical Center.
