Family Physician Kent Lacey says the Regional West Medical Center typically sees an increase in people trying to quit smoking after the New Year.

Lacey says there are many different options to help you quit smoking such as nicotine gum ... patches and medications.

But his number one tip pick a day to kick start your resolution.

"It's always a good idea to pick a certain day as a goal to quit smoking so you look at January first, or an anniversary or a birthday, something meaningful. A day that you can quit smoking that would be worth while for you."

Lacey says he's seen a lot of success stories but the best way to quit is cold turkey.
