Preparations are underway for the 2013 Miss America Pageant and Torrington's Lexie Madden is happy to be included.
Madden is currently a junior at the University of Wyoming and says she grew up playing sports and didn't ever think she would be where she is. She joins girls from each state in Las Vegas this week for the Miss America pageant. Madden's family held a fundraiser for her, raising about 50,000 dollars for he pageant costs. She is very thankful to her community and is proud to be from Wyoming.
"The Miss America organization is so empowering so I think that really ties into the whole idea that Wyoming was the first state that allowed women to vote and giving them that empowerment, it really ties in," says Madden.
