Nebraska lawmakers will soon debate new gun restrictions for juveniles in the wake of the recent shootings.
Omaha Senator Brad Ashford introduced two bills this week designed to keep guns and ammunition away from unsupervised children. One would restrict the sale of ammunition and another would hold adults liable for leaving firearms in locations accessible to minors.
Senator Mark Christensen opposes the bill and says he might introduce legislation that allows teachers and administration to keep guns in their cars.
Ashford says he hopes the federal government will deal with legislative regarding the sale of large ammunition and unregulated gun shows.
