"I Can, You Can, We Can" Food Drive efforts a success

Posted: Updated:

A KOTA Territory food drive helps feed lots of people in need.

The "I Can, You Can, We Can" food drive collected over 4,000 pounds of food overall.

2,000 pounds of that went to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, and the rest stays here in Scottsbluff at the Guadalupe Food Pantry.

Almost 20 local businesses participate every year and offer people discounts or rewards for bringing in canned food.

Roger Franklin began loading the truck at Gary's Restoration Services where he works, he says helping out each other should be a priority.

"It's what our community needs. Our times are tough, our government is struggling you know, it's what our community has to do. We as American people need to step up and provide for ourselves, let's help each other."

Franklin says he's happy to help and they had an enthusiastic team loading the truck and moving the food in the snowy weather.
