Gering Superintendent search is narrowing down

Posted: Updated:

A Panhandle city is making sure its youth are in the right hands.

The Gering School Board is down to more than ten candidates for its Superintendent position.

The state's School Board Association is facilitating the hiring process.

Gering's School Board will get a look at the candidate list at its Wednesday meeting.

After review, the board will narrow down the list to four or five candidates before interviews begin next week.

B.J. Peters, the Vice President of Gering's School Board says there's one common theme in what the school district is looking for.

"There's one common theme, they want someone who can communicate and let them know what we're doing with our young people in the city of Gering and the Gering School District."

Peters says he's excited to see what the new Superintendent will bring to the table.
