Scottsbluff School Board member ready to make a difference

Posted: Updated:

The Scottsbluff School Board swears in its newest member during their first meeting of the year.

Terry Gilliland was elected in November. During last night's meeting, Dyana Moran administered the official oath to Gilliland.

He's replacing former board member Kim Magana, who did not seek re-election.

Gilliland says he's excited to help make a difference for the students of Scottsbluff.

"I have no agenda at all," says Gilliland. "I want to see Scottsbluff head in the right direction and keep going in the direction that they have. And I just want to do my part. I was in education for 46 years and education was good to me and I kind of want to give back to it."

Gilliland made his presence known during last nights meeting ... And was an active participant in the round table discussion on improving school safety.
