The city of Gering has finalized details on its affordable home buyer program.
The single family affordable home buyer program will result from the old McKinley school building's demolition.
The city received $465,000 in affordable housing grant funds to build five single family homes.
Twin Cities Development Director Rawnda Pierce says as the homes are sold, the city can decide on phase two of the project.
"If they want to tear down the building coinciding with the homes being finished, there might be the opportunity," Pierce said.
Pierce says they plan for a total of 10 homes over a three year period, all offered at market rates.
