W.N.C.C women's softball team gets involved with the community

And another local group, held a chili-supper fundraiser today.

Western Nebraska Community College's women's softball team held their eighth annual chili supper.

Earlier this month, the team sold tickets for the event.

Head Coach Maria Winn-Ratliff says this fundraiser allows the girls to form connections with people in the community.

"One of the reasons we chose this idea eight years ago was that it gets us involved with the community, we're inviting the community members on our campus. It's in conjunction with the basketball game, so we're supporting other athletics as well."

The money raised will pay for items exceeding the team's budget limits.

Last year they got championship rings with the fundraiser money.
