Airport grant money going a long way

Posted: Updated:

For the Western Nebraska Regional Airport, a whole years of hard work is measured with one number, 10,000.

10,000 is the number of passengers that must travel through the airport in order to be eligible for a one million dollar grant.

The airport reached that goal this year and manager Darwin Skelton says he plans for projects for the airport, with that money in mind.   He says he has projects lined up to better the airport through the year 2027 and needs the grant money to makes these happen.

"It's important that we hit those dates and it was huge for us to get that done and accomplished and be able to know that we're going to do with, what we need to do with the schedule plans," says Skelton.

The board just signed off on a new improvement project for the airport, expanding the northeast side and adding another gate.
