A Panhandle Elementary School is teaching its students history at a young age.
The Kindergarten classes at Lincoln Elementary all had one common theme, they celebrated Martin Luther King Day.
The students made cards, which included their dreams.
They were also taught about how far the country has come over the decades.
Kindergarten teacher, Mickie Janecek says her lesson plan wasn't just to teach the kids our nation's history, but to show them how to be accepting of others.
"It's also a good lead into just being friendly to other people, it doesn't matter if you're a girl or a boy, or what color your skin is or if you have nice clothes or if your clothes are dirty or old. That it doesn't matter and they can all still be friends."
