A second teen involved in a Gering burglary is set to appear in county court for his preliminary hearing.
19-year-old Shane Merrills is charged with one count of burglary.
Court documents say that Merrills and three friends broke into a Gering home on January 13th.
During the break-in, thousand of dollars of damage was caused to its contents, and items including a gun, jewelry and electronics were stolen. The teens also spray painted a vehicle in the garage.
Merrills admitted to police officers that he broke a lamp in the bedroom and kicked walls in the hallway. Items that he threw into a dumpster included three boxes of assorted jewelry and a Polaroid digital picture frame.
A State Farm Insurance adjuster estimated the damage to the house and her vehicle was more than $10,000.
18-year-old Byron Stieb was also charged in the burglary, and made his first appearance in district court this afternoon.
