A new bill in the Nebraska Legislature would make it illegal for minors to use tanning beds.
Senator Jeremy Nordquist of Omaha introduced the bill.
Nebraska doesn't monitor tanning salons at all, but insurance companies for tanning salons require teens to have parental consent.
Carolyn Mowry, the Owner of New Looks Hair and Tanning, says her salon monitors underage clients and their employees know proper skin care to assist clients.
Mowry says she thinks the state is jumping the gun.
"I think that's where the abuse is coming from, the private individuals that own these. They have them in their homes, they have establishments that don't keep up on the rules, regulation and sanitation," Mowry said.
Mowry says the bill could hurt her salon's business.
